Week 34

Monday: today has been a challenging one. Both Ms. Annie and Ms. Kim are out and my work study wasn't able to come today. REALLY missing everyone and their helping hands today!

I hope all of you had a splendid weekend. This week we are talking about REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE! We are reviewing the alphabet and learning the number 27. We are also celebrating the Week of the Young Child. Tomorrow our Mayor, Mr. Tom Tartt, will stop by to read a story to us. We are greatly anticipating that.

The rest of the week will include our Trash Fair, Gymnastics (on Wednesday), Music (on Thursday), Spring Fling (on Friday).

* Remember I will be out of town this Friday. Ms. Claire will be filling in for me. I just uploaded all of our CHOM pictures to Kodak Gallery and will be emailing them out shortly! Have a great week

Week 33 Summary

Hey There!

Today is actually Thursday BUT since we are on our field trip today I went ahead and wrote the summary of the week.

This week was chaos for us. I know I've said that several times before but I'm serious this time. The Chinese students came, we had group pictures, class science projects with Ms. Annie & our class, music, and now a field trip. CRAZYNESS I tell you!

We managed to complete almost ALL of our trash flag (YAY!).

With the collaboration of each class Ms. Annie pieced together this beautiful trash rainbow!

Are you starting to see what I mean by CRAZYNESS?

We also completed our Z letter art

And here are some pictures from the Chinese Cultural Lesson.... They made kites with kids!

So in short, next week we will discuss reduce, reuse, and recycle! As well as the number 27. We will review the WHOLE alphabet and focus on letter sounds. While doing assessments this week I noticed the class as a whole struggled with letter sounds. Assessments and portfolios is a whole other story. Almost all portfolios & assessments are complete. Despite the crazyness of this week it has been a productive one

Enjoy your weekend. If you will be in Livingston the Sucarnochee Review is Friday and Saturday. It is always so much fun, go check it out

Week 33

A day late... Typical. Please forgive me! Yesterday was quite busy.

Our Chinese students stopped by for a cultural lesson. The kids got to make kites and they loved it!

Our letter this week is Z, number 26, and finally a new study starter from Creative Curriculum: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! Gearing up for Earth Day!

Tomorrow the kids will be working on a recycled are project with me and Ms. Annie please send your child to school in old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Tomorrow is also gymnastics day. Thursday we will have music and Friday is our field trip to CHOM in Tuscaloosa.

Week 32 Summary

It is so hard to believe this time next week we will have went through the entire ALPHABET! No more letter homework, rejoice. :) That is so crazy. This week has consisted of lots and lots of portfolio organizing and assessing. The end of April will be here before we know it!

This week we enjoyed our visit from the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. Also the kids loved making "creepy crawlers" for our bug bulletin board.

Did I mention how much I love our custodian Ms. Netta?
{let me also take a minute to apologize about the paint on your child's clothes... we used a different paint that we don't normally use and unfortunately found out, the hard way, it is not washable}

We were able to enjoy the great outdoors (and all it's lovely creepy crawlers) this week. The weather has been beautiful lately.

Next week our focus is Earth Day, introducing our new Creative Curriculum "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" study. We will also create a class project for our recycled art show(while using washable paint and aprons:))! I hope you guys are working on individual projects at home. Oh, and don't forget our class field trip on Friday to CHOM in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

*Still no action from our cocoon :( hoping that changes over the weekend!

See you Monday!
