Week 39

It is HERE! The final week of school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be a very busy day as we prepare our final touches to the Recognition Program TONIGHT at 6:00 in Wallace Hall Auditorium. Hope to see you there

We have a tear jerker slide show prepared for you :)

Week 37 Summary

On Wednesday, we were fortunate to go on a scavenger hunt to look for things in nature at the Black Belt Garden and at the duck pond.  The students located every item on their list except for a squirrel! You would think that would be something easy to find, but it wasn’t on our walk that day.  The kids found such things as a butterfly, ducks, cattails, pine trees, oak trees, ants and much more! We had a great time, and we want to thank Brian and Rosa for taking us on our scavenger hunt and teaching us so much about nature.  We are looking forward to going back!
- Ms. Annie

Thursday and Friday we walked over to Wallace Hall Auditorium to practice for our program.

Hope you can make it to our program Monday night at 6:00

By 12:00 on Friday I only had 5 students! He made a pallet on the rug and watched a movie :)

Week 37

This week we are learning about animals! Instead of picking a few animals I let the students pick... Here are their choices

Lexie- elephant.. The use their big ears as fans to stay cool in the hot African sun
Shaniya-horse...
Josie-kitten
Jeremiah-giraffe
Katelyn-alligator
Tripp-monkey
Austin-rattlesnake
Sadie-zebra
Abby-lion
Joanna-tiger
Caroline-leopard
Presley-dolphin

We hope to fill in a little fact about each animal by Friday!

So far we have made an elephant craft

Much more to come.

Do you remember me saying I was done with assessments? Yeah... not so much. Paper wise I am. It slipped my mind about ONLINE assessments. Ooops! So nap time is consuming all of my assessment documentation online. I know I sound bitter about it but really I am excited. Once I learn the in's and out's of the system I know I am going to love it. I think you will too.

Enjoy your week!

Week 36 Summary

This week has come to an end! It was a tough one mentally, emotionally, and physically. I am so thankful for my wonderful coworkers.

We had gymnastics Wednesday and music Thursday. Today we had muffins for mom :) Happy (early) Mother's Day!

We even had one mom joining us via FaceTime... Gotta love technology!

Every Friday we have Show and Tell. This morning on my way to the car I noticed my dog Mack had this little guy in his mouth.

With my teacher instinct I quickly swooped him away and threw him right in the back of my car. Once I got to school and talked with some of the other teachers we identified "little guy" as a SNAPPING TURTLE! Not such a kid-friendly-preschool-show-and-tell object.... oops! So we took a walk to the duck pond to free our new, short lived, friend.

As if knowing he was a snapping turtle wasn't enough.....

We took some food to feed the ducks... Sometimes they get a little too close for comfort.

Fred now has all the freedom he could want! Can you imagine what was going through his head for the few hours we had him?

Also for show and tell my mother stopped by with TWO RABBITS! This place was a zoo today, literally.

As I've mentioned this was not an easy week... And just when I think "is it 5:30 yet", a moment like this takes place ...

And I realize why I do what I do. Pure Bliss!

Happy Friday... .See you next week!

Week 36

I write this post with a very heavy heart. Sunday morning my precious grandmother passed away. She just had her 69th birthday on the 16th of April. Her mom is still alive, as well as her brothers, sisters, and children so to say this was devastating for all of us in an understatement. I want to thank all of you for your continued prayers and support. It is greatly appreciated.

Today is my first day back at school and I can't tell a story, it is tough. Also, from now until summer program our staff is spread thin. We have no work studies or extra help. It is up to me, Ms. Brooke, Ms. Jaysa, Ms. Kim, and Mr. Donta. Ms. Annie won't be back from her vacation until next week.

We are still in the Reduce Reuse Recycle study for creative curriculum. Practicing for our end of the year program is at the top of our list as is assessing. I will try to post again on Friday but I am not making any promises.

Hope all of you are doing well! Thanks again for your support and encouragement

Week 35 Summary

The biggest accomplishment of the week!

If you've heard your child talk about their "Popsicle stick" or "stations" this is what they are referring too. When we visited Aiken Village Preschool in Starkville, MS  this is how they navigated through learning centers. I love it! So finally it is complete. It is quite an adjustment but we are working on it.
(When I took this picture it was still a work in progress... it now has all the magnetic strips in place)

As I mentioned in Monday's post we learned about Cinco de May and Mexico this week. We also finished up assessments.... THIS. IS. HUGE! Now all I have left to do is enter all the data online. I'm so thankful our work studies helped me with this and I am so very sad we won't have them for three weeks.

In crafts this week we made sombrero's!

In science we made tissue paper flowers

The cafeteria brought over a yummy Cinco de Mayo meal

And after nap we get to play with this little guy... I can't for the kids to see it!

See you next week!
