Gettin' Groovy..

in the Science room with TYE-DYE! Ms. Annie did it again... with a little help from our AWESOME parents. A big THANKS to everyone who helped make this possible. The kids loved it....

What better way to incorporate our color theme than tye-dye? We also enjoyed a presentation from Dr. Hooper on clothes (our monthly theme) this morning.

We love when Dr. Hooper (a.k.a long leg larry- rodeo clown) comes to visit!

Week 4: COLORS

Okay guys, this week hit me like a ton of bricks! For the first time I didn't get my Monday post up on time which means the new is wearing off. Must. Stay. On. Track! Monday's are long for me, I arrive at 7:00 and leave at 5:30 so I apologize.

This week we are learning about COLORS! Monday was green day and being the slacker that I am I forgot to snap a picture :( However I did get one of Josie's Birthday party...

Happy 4th Birthday Josie!
Here is the picture of Blue Day, I did not forget :)

Yesterday we talked about the color green, learned a song about the color, and made a green book!

We will do this same thing with every color this week.

Tomorrow is yellow day. Hope you have a BRIGHT  week!

Week 3 Summary

WOW! We have been in school for 15 days. That is crazy! All assessments and "All About Me" books  are complete, that feels so good to type :) Our week of reviewing shapes, numbers, and letters went well.

Painting with letters, shapes, and numbers.

Bless this sweet lady! Our librarian was out and she took her spot for the day. Her response when I picked them up, "I'm too old for this!" :)

We love dress up!

Thanks to some UWA professors we have new toys :)

Thursday & Friday morning our parking lot was out of order due to construction VOILA!!!!!!!

We love our playground

Since our parking lot was closed both Thursday & Friday morning we arrived at work a little earlier to assist with curbside drop off/sign in. Our director, Ms. Annie, TREATed us with pastries from The Bakery!
I'm really looking forward to next week, it should be a lot of fun. Every day we will focus on a different color. I got some GREAT printable's from this lovely blog .We plan to make a color book everyday next week. So weird to think we get a new month next week but I can not wait, I LOVE FALL! I hope all of you have a happy weekend :)

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.... Look at our Science Room!

Can I get a round of applause for Ms. Annie? She is an awesome director and that is a major understatement. I am so blessed to call her, not only director but, friend and a student parent who has helped me out SO much already. We appreciate you more than you know Ms. Annie! With that said let me also add we LOVE parent involvement. If you are interested in helping us in anyway let us know we would love to have you.

As I told you in my Monday post this week we are reviewing numbers, letters, and shapes. Using the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Ms. Annie taught a science lesson. The kids thoroughly enjoyed investigating the many foods they used to make their edible coconut tree. They even got to open a coconut of their very own and look inside! A picture of science notebooks to come....

Back to the Basics...ABC's and 123's

Here is to week three! Our theme is letters, shapes, numbers, and of course clothes(our monthly theme). We are starting to get the hang of our routines and now it's time to focus on the basics. Since I have sixteen students I knew how much time assessing them would take so I started last week. I wanted to give you guys some insight on how assessing goes...Hopefully everyone's will be completed by Friday (fingers crossed).

Data Recording Sheet

This is what I use to record their assessments. This will be used three times a year: August, December, and April or May. I CANNOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS DOCUMENT.... Once again I found it off someone elses blog but I can't remember whose it was : / if this is yours please let me know and I will direct fellow bloggers in your direction. Here is the rest of the assessment documents I use...

Science Fun

Since we were talking about food/manners this week I thought this little activity would be fun. I'm not sure which teaching blog I found it on : / probably Sun Scholars a long time ago. This lady is FANTASTIC! We use a lot of her acitivites. This was super easy and the kids loved it. All you do.... Pour milk into an ice cube tray drop food a color drops of food coloring, stir, add 4 year olds with paint brushes and VOILA!

Week 2 Summmary

Almost the end of week two! It hit me this morning when doing the Math Calendar that tomorrow (that would be yesterday... I wrote this during nap yesterday and I'm posting it during planning period on Friday... Since you have children I'm sure you understand :)) we will have to add a straw in our tens place because it will be our 10th day of school this year... Big deal for a four year old :) Speaking of four year olds, Happy Birthday to Waylon! He turned four on Monday. As I mentioned in my earlier post this week our theme was food/manners....
We used our 5 senses in the Science Room with Ms. Annie

Closer view

We made placemats by tracing a plate, fork, spoon, and cup. Then we cut out pictures of food and glued them to our placemats.

Closer view

We had a very special guest, Ms. Tammy (my mom), come and teach us how to make applesauce

As promised.... This is my wonderful class at Music!

They love to see Ms. Poole Coming!
After watching them have so much fun I couldn't leave with you just pictures ... Here's a video! Enjoy :)

Week 2

Here we are on week two where the new begins to wear off, routines become concrete, and rules are strictly enforced! The first weeks of school are crucial. Our main goal is to provide a safe learning environment for our students. By establishing rules, routines, and procedures early on we will be in for a GREAT year!

Today we welcomed two more students to our classroom, Abby & R.J.! We started this Monday off with a trip to our duck pond along with our Kindergarten class! We are so thankful for cooperating classes and teachers. We love working with our neighbors.

Our theme this week is food/manners. We will have several food related activities going on throughout the week. Today we did a "Watermelon Wonder" ....

We will complete this activity this afternoon when we eat the watermelon for snack! During circle time we sang about Ms. Kaley's favorite snack, Peanut Butter & Jelly. Then we told everyone what our own favorite food was....
