We have been diligently working on our (Dr. Seuss themed) "All About Me" Books, learning daily routines and procedures, creating a list of classroom rules, and making new friends. Next week will be geard towards food/manners and of course our monthly theme from Creative Curriculum: Clothing.
Besides our "All About Me" book we have also been focusing on each students name. I'm not sure if you have ever seen this magical art activity but I came across the idea on the interent (I'm sure on one of the many fantastic teaching blogs I stalk). I drew each students name on a piece of white paper with a white crayon. The students took the paper, in which they thought was blank :), and colored it from top to bottom with water colors. The crayon wax is water repellent so their names magically appeared on their paper!
Since we are a uniuqe school in that we a re apart of The University of West Alabama our students are able to enjoy a variety of different experiences and activities normal preschools do not. On Thursday of this week our mascot LUie and the cheerleading squad made their first official on campus apperance right here at The Campus School.
Needless to say the kids LOVED it.
This Friday was no flop, we started the morning off with a PANCAKE BREAKFAST! This week it was all about our new students so why not make happy face pancakes?
We also started something new... and we LOVE anything new! Ms. Poole is teaching Music on Thursday morning and Ms. Lil is now teaching gymnastics on Fridays! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of music time :( but I promise to have one up next week. Ms. Poole is a retired Kindergarten teacher and talented in SO many ways, we are beyond blessed to have both her and Ms. Lil.
Did I mention our library has some pretty cool costumes? : ) |
