Week 2: Vocabulary

I won't post this every week but I did want to show you how well these kids are writing already!

LOVE it! I also love when they say funny things such as (this was after explaining what a custodian was) "I have a custodian at my house!" hahaha out of the mouths of babes :)

Week 2: Science with Ms.Annie

Today in science we all shared our All About Me bags! The students had so much fun sharing information about themselves to Ms. Annie and their classmates. This is the poem that were on their bags:

“ALL ABOUT ME”

In this brown bag you will find,
Things that show I’m one of a kind.
4 items or pictures of stuff I like,
My family, friends, a hobby or bike.
So when I share these things with you,
You’ll find out things you never knew!

Next week we will be measuring ourselves to compare how tall we are at the beginning of the year and will do it again at the end of the year. We were going to do it today, but the kids had so much fun sharing the items in their bags, that it took up all our time.

-Ms. Annie

Week 2: Morning Circle Time

This is why it is so important for your child to be on time :)

There is a lot more to it than you can tell. We also have math calendar, daily question, pledge of allegiance, mystery picture, counting to 100, telling time, weather, and more. It is very important that the kids are writing every day in every subject. I can already see an improvement on our sign in board from the first day of school to now :) Makes me so happy! Morning Circle time really sets the tone for the day. I like to think of it as their version of watching the news and sipping coffee... good for the soul!

Week 2: Learning Stations

Here is a picture glimpse into our learning stations. Students break into stations after nap and have free reign over which station they choose. Simultaneously I along with our work study students are pulling them for 15 minutes at a time for one on one time. Typically I will focus on teaching reading/writing while our work studies play math games with them or do an art project with them.

I can not even begin to describe how awesome our work studies are this semester! I am thrilled to have them. If you here your child mention Miss Leanna, Miss Courtney, or Miss Adrienne they are referring to our work study students.

Week 1: Welcome to Kindergarten

Group Picture

MUSIC with Mrs. Poole

Reading Buddies with Dr. Minear

Tootles Jar

Every time I see the students doing something I like (sitting criss cross applesauce, listening, helping a friend, following instructions or rules, etc) a "tootle" goes in the jar.

When the jar is full the kids get to have an "Oh Tootles Party" of their choice. They filled it up on Thursday so Friday we wore Dr. Seuss hats all day and ate cupcakes THEY made! It was fun.

Then we had a surprise little field trip to the duck pond and Student Union Building on campus!

We love being apart of the UWA family. I have a little idea for our next "Oh Tootles Party!" :)

Sorry this is a day late... I had to wait on some media release forms to come in. From now on I will try to make music, reading buddies, science, and such one single post. Then Friday posts' will be a simple summary of the week. I will also be posting work samples soon. It is so much fun to compare them to their work at the end of the year.

Hope all of you enjoy your weekend!
