This week we are discussing families, introducing word families (-an), reviewing letters/letter sounds, learning more sight words, discussing the life cycle of a pumpkin, and much more.

Talk with your kids about their day at school. I can assure you they didn't "just play" or (and a teacher's worst nightmare) "we didn't do anything!" (GASP!)

Sometimes they are learning new things and not even noticing it. I had a parent tell me not too long ago their child was adding and subtracting/using math words like less and more. When the parent told the child she was proud of her and that she was doing MATH the child said, "No I'm not, that's not math." :-) Math is only when you have your math journal in front of you ; - ) .... or so they think.

If you want some leads to go off of ask about
-Our Jack and Annie book we are reading
-What we did at Ms. Kaley's red table today
-What word family did you learn about
-What was your favorite station today
-Who was Thing 1 and Thing 2 ... what did they do

and the list goes on and on....

I hope everyone had a good weekend!
