Week 8 Summary

WOOOO HOOOOO! Ms. Kim snapped a picture when my kiddos were in her room on Tuesday so I'm not completely empty handed now.

Here is a sample of the art pictures from each teachers room on Tuesday. Ms. Brooke's is not pictured because it was edible and now no longer existent. The kids loved them all....

This week I wanted to post some pictures of our one on one time. I call a couple of students to my "teaching table" during stations everyday. We always practice writing our name. Sometimes we will go over math or science after that. Other days we might play a game. It varies... Yesterday my heart melted. We just received AWESOME new wipe boards. While I was doing one on one time with a student I noticed Sadie and Abby at the wipe board. Sadie was very adamant that what she drew was a letter...Abby wasn't so sure about that.

After much debate I intervened and asked Sadie, "Is that a letter?" her response of course was yes so I said "How do you know?" and this is where she made me smile... She pointed to the letter 'L' on my wall! The whole quote of course is "Oh The Places We Will Go..."

You never know what they are going to pick up on.

Meanwhile the students at the writing table were practicing our letter this week, 'D'!

I found this online and I love it. Each child has their name written this same way.

Our morning sign in sheet is continuously getting better, LOVE!
While on the playground yesterday a student terrorized caught this little guy

He didn't last very long : /

Today was HERO Day! We had a blast with all the University athletes that stopped by our room. Each one read a book to us and told us a little bit about their sport.

Look at the admiration in Kaitlyn's eyes. Love that we have these special opportunities. I will be out of work Friday and Monday so this is my Friday Post! Sorry it was so lengthy. Have a great weekend

Week 8: Weather, Space, Book Fair, and Ants

There is always something going on at the Campus School and this week is no different. The Book Fair arrived last Friday! All the kids made their wish lists' and picked out their favorite items. We have seen an array of visitors and are so thankful for them. Also, thank you to the parents and grandparents who have volunteered their time this week working in the Book Fair.

Today we tried something a little different with our morning routine. Each class rotated through every classroom and learned about Space/Weather. Ms. Kim & Ms. Jaysa taught weather while Ms. Brooke and I taught space. It was SO refreshing and FUN!

Of course I took pictures of everyone that came in my room except my class :(

*Yes, this is real life where the classrooms aren't spotless, the children aren't always all smiles, and the planned crafted doesn't always pan out just like you wanted it to.* Thank you- practical teacher

Monday was Johnny Appleseed's Birthday! We read stories about him and painted an apple tree using fall colors and apple slices as stamps

So far my coin dropper has the most money in it...Am I winning by a long shot? No. By one measly cent! C'mon people do you really want me to dress up like an alien that bad? Please say  no ; - )

I will post art pictures on Thursday of this week. I will be out Friday and Monday....This Sunday I will run in my very first 1/2 marathon in Nashville, Tennessee. Yes I am petrified!Sweet Ms. Claire will be here to take care of our babies :) Have a great week

What a busy, full week we had and it absolutely flew by. WE continued talking about community helpers, welcomed our new season with a FALL craft, and tried out thumb art!

This idea came from Busy Bee Crafts

When a policeman pulls us over they have to read our tag! We customized ours without paying $50.00 extra, can't beat that :-)

Keep those homework posters coming! I hope you see the pattern... feel free to work ahead at home

Today was our first day for the book fair! I must say I thoroughly enjoyed making my wish list. You see this foreign object on the right? That is Ms. Kim's coin dropper....every class will have one and the class who has the most money at the end of the week WINS!!!! What do they win? A day to make fun of their teacher because she will be dressed like an ALIEN.... Next week is going to be lots of fun so feel free to stop by and check it out. Have a great weekend

Week 7: Community Helpers

We love playing with the older kids!

SO funny

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! : )

A HUGE thank you to Mr. Darin Banks and the Livingston Police Department as well as the Livingston Fire Department for kicking off our Community Helpers week in high fashion. By standers may have thought the Campus School was in trouble this morning around 10:00 am but we were only having FUN! Both the LFD and the LPD shared with us what it is they do everyday. After that each child took a walk through their vehicles and played with the sirens. We had a ball!

We will continue to talk about community helpers, ants, the letter C, and the number 3 this week. This morning in small groups we worked with wipe boards. Each child wrote their name and with my help we wrote ever letter in the alphabet or at least tried :)  Remember the environment and purpose for this age group is to help promote a love for learning not to force it! We are learning while having fun and we encourage you to carry out this philosophy at home.

Have a great week! Don't forget to check those mailboxes, you have homework : - )
